Join us for an exciting hackathon focused on open data for water!

Are you passionate about sustainable water resource management? Do you have an idea that can help manage data, simplify it and make it more accessible for the public? Then join our “Water Data Hackathon” and help shape a sustainable future for Armenia.

The two-day “Water Data Hackathon” will take place on October 23-24 and will focus on sustainable water governance, allowing participants to join efforts in developing digital solutions that will support decision makers and help engage all stakeholders in water resource management.

Why care for sustainable water management?

Water resources in Armenia face significant challenges due to factors such as climate change, inefficient irrigation and water use practices, and pollution. With a predominantly mountainous terrain, Armenia relies heavily on its rivers, lakes and groundwater for freshwater supply. However, increased demand from agriculture and industry, coupled with aging infrastructure, strains these resources. Climate change exacerbates the situation further, leading to irregular precipitation patterns, increase in evapotranspiration and diminishing glacier meltwater.

Why participate?

Access to reliable and comprehensive data and information is indispensable for decision-makers in the water sector. Informed decision-making relies heavily on accurate information about water quantity, quality, usage patterns, and environmental impacts. Transparent data sharing also promotes stakeholder engagement and fosters collaboration among government agencies, research institutions, NGOs, and communities, facilitating collective efforts towards water security and resilience.

Participating in “Water Data Hackathon” is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in Armenia’s future and economic development.

Join us to help shape a more sustainable future for Armenia while gaining valuable experience and the chance to secure funding for your innovative ideas.
